This is the ad on the side of the bus stop for the 22 Fillmore line at Church and Duboce. Look very closely and you'll notice not a eensy bit of Anglo Saxon blood in the mix. What is this telling me? That only Blacks, Asians and Latinos have to wait around for busses and therefore are the ones littering at bus stops? My naive and spongy personality may internalize this clever ad and someday soon I will stare at a Chinese woman and think to myself, "Hey, that porkbun belongs in the trash, not on the ground!" Then again, hey, it's just an ad. To my understanding adbertising has only had positive effects in society, especially the yogurt commercials for women - yay healthy vaginal floras! To add to the absurdity, why is there an ad telling us something that we already know? As JP pointed out, why not skip the "diverse" signs and put more garbage cans by bus stops? Good point, Sherlock. Here's the answer: In seeing the ad, people will stop littering because their guilty morale will remind them that putting that empty Dorritos bag on the ground is a big no no. Does this work? Of course not.
