This is a Muni rant.
My biggest pet peeve on Muni is when people try to get to the exit doors before the bus stops. I will discuss 2 scenarios relating to eager bus exiters.
1. The Muni trains that get me and thousands of others downtown for work in the morning: 80% of the packed trains empty at the Montgomery station, but there is no doubt workaholics who wriggle their way towards the doors before the train stops. I chuckle when the train pauses and then jolts to the exiting platform, causing those early birds to fall on their faces.
2. I'm getting off too!: Here's where the posting title becomes relevant. I'm standing near the door at the front of the bus. The bus is fucking crowded. I can't even step behind the yellow line as the OCD driver tells me too. The next stop is my stop. Someone taps my arm. It's a cute old lady sitting right in front of me next to the door. "Excuse me, i'm getting off at the next stop." My response? "So am I. Would you like to get a head start?" I said it with a smile and friendly tone but i was clearly being a snarky dickhole.
But really, what am I supposed to do when people do that? Brace myself for the inevitable moment that eventually, people who get on the bus will at some point get off? Well, yeah, duh! Anyway, here's kind of how she looked like. I suck.
